If your video script requires a newer version of FFMPEG (like PHPVibe does) the best choice is to install FFMPEG according to the FFMPEG Compilation guide for your specific operating system.
Forget auto-installers and yum installs, they will do more wrong than good and you’ll end up wondering why do I have ffmpeg installed and it doesn’t show up/work.
If you use CentOS use the CentOS compliation guide on FFMPEG.
Linux
OS X
FFmpeg and its dependencies can also be installed with Homebrew or MacPorts.
Windows
- CompilationGuide/MinGW – MinGW Compilation Guide for compiling FFmpeg with Windows/MinGW/MSYS.
- CompilationGuide/CrossCompilingForWindows – Cross compiling for Windows is sometimes easier than using MSYS+MinGW.
- Compiling FFmpeg using MSVC is easy; follow the instructions on the main page or CompilationGuide/MSVC for more details.
LOL, I don’t have my own server, just bought hosting, how is it possible to run these commands for ffmpeg installation on centos 6?
Hi! Check the Centos 6 Tutorials. But, if you are on shared you have no access to ssh, you need to ask the server admin to do it for you.
